Rules of the Road

1: Stay on the trail/road system. Going off the trail runs the risk of getting the machine stuck, costing you a lot of money as well as interfering with other recreation services in the area. Don’t be that person.

2: Do not leave the machine unattended in the middle of the road. Again, this interferes with the recreation of others in the area.

3: Do not operate the machine under the influence of any substance. Remember when on United States forest service land you are within federal jurisdiction, which means certain greenish things that are legal in Colorado are not legal on that land. Take from that what you will. 

4: Understand that a traditional Cat skiing service operates at Jones pass. The Jones Pass Guides have groomed the road you are traveling on. If you encounter their services, make sure to pull over in a polite manner and allow them by. Their vehicle being much bigger than ours has the right away. Should we get word from Jones Pass Guides concerning inappropriate behavior on behalf of any renters your entire party will be blacklisted by Private Catz. We have a zero tolerance policy for this type of occurrence.

5: Be respectful of other travelers. Skiers and snowboarders on skins, snowshoers, snowmobilers, snowcats, timber sleds, and UTVs all recreate on this road system. Just as with your car, maintain your side of the trail, especially coming around corners.

6: Know the parties involved. The Jones Pass trail head is owned by the Henderson Mine. Recreators are allowed to park and get to their zone by the Mine’s blessing. Do NOT disrespect their property by littering or parking in a careless manner.  Jones pass guides makes the road you travel on. They have guided clients skiing in and around the area you will be Skiing and riding.  Be courteous.  The USFS maintains the trail head and owns the land past butler gulch, where all of your recreating will take place. Take care to follow their guidelines and stay on the trail, not only to avoid getting stuck, but also to prevent harm to the sensitive wildlife habitat.
